Designed by renowned architect Bergonzoli, the iconic QBL factory rose in just seven months. More than a building, it became a landmark of ambition, progress, and belief in what local industry could achieve.
At exactly 14:00, the first Pepsi-Cola bottle rolled off the production line. A simple action that marked the beginning of decades of refreshment, innovation, and moments shared across generations.


In 1956, QBL introduced the 6 oz Pepsi bottle at only 15 cents and demand exploded. Production ran nonstop and soon the company earned global recognition for leading Pepsi sales growth among bottlers.
QBL expanded its offer with Evervess, adding sparkling water to its growing lineup. It opened new tastes, new moments of enjoyment, and positioned the company as a diversified beverage pioneer.


The new 1-litre Pepsi brought more to share, making it the drink for gatherings, celebrations, and home enjoyment. One bottle became the center of family moments across the island.

In 1972, QBL brought wrestling icons like Dara Singh, Mighty Mongol, and Mad Monk to Mauritius, turning the Pepsi Cola Souvenir Cup into a national spectacle. Fans were glued to newspapers as these fierce match-ups became instant folklore.


January 1976 marked a once-in-a-lifetime moment as Hussain Currimjee welcomed Pelé to Mauritius. George V Stadium erupted in celebration as the greatest footballer on earth created memories that generations still remember.
QBL made marketing a show. The Pepsi Star Lottery drew massive participation, with the Datsun car as a star prize and many more rewards that fueled excitement. It was entertainment, aspiration, and brand love all wrapped into one.


QBL pushed creativity even further with Pepsi’s collectible glasses, turning everyday purchases into moments of excitement and loyalty. The brand became part of the home, the shelf, and the culture.
In the early 90s, the arrival of Fido Dido gave 7Up a playful personality. It injected humor, freshness, and fun into Mauritian pop culture, making the drink as entertaining as it was refreshing.


In 1992, QBL invested in a dedicated bottling line for water, laying the foundation for what would become a household essential. Vital brought safe, reliable hydration to families across Mauritius and helped modernize a category.

In 2015, QBL merged with Vital Water Bottling to meet evolving consumer expectations. The partnership unlocked greater capability, wider distribution, and a stronger response to a fast-changing beverage market.


With the amalgamation of Margarine Industries Ltd into QBL, the company expanded from drinks into food. Brands like Tara, Mi and others reinforced QBL’s presence at the family table, not just in the fridge.
In January 2024, QBL acquired Soap and Allied Industries Limited, adding personal care, home care, and premium food products to its portfolio. It marked a milestone in diversification and long-term growth.


In 2021, QBL invested in a state-of-the-art glass line, pairing modern production with a stronger commitment to sustainability. It marked a shift toward smarter manufacturing and a lighter footprint.
Through recycling efforts and school programs, QBL is helping shape a generation that understands responsible consumption. The goal is simple, a cleaner island and a more aware tomorrow.


QBL continues to back sport across Mauritius, encouraging youth to move, compete and build confidence. It is a long-standing commitment to energy, aspiration and better living.
